Why Write?
My husband is big into the technology industry. He is a web and iOS developer who thrives on knowledge of the latest gadgets. I have an English degree and a love for teaching. Needless to say, I love getting my hands on a new book or dabbling in ones I have read millions of times before. In a lot of ways, we are opposites, but together, we share a passion for lifelong learning.
I’ve contemplated the idea of a blog for a while now, and it just seemed to make sense with a husband who has the ability to develop these kinds of things. He is the brains behind this operation, while I offer a mind full of thoughts, and a heart full of love for creative expression.
I have a fascination with words. They are those little bundles of letters that we string together in phrases. Those small packages that try to express how we feel or what we think. But sometimes I wonder…
Do they actually do their job? Can we fully express our deepest desires, hopes and dreams by piecing together little bits of meaning? Can we truly covey the depth of a thought to someone else through words?
Of course, we can try, but when it comes down to it, there really is no way to make it 100% clear. The more words we use – the more we try to explain – the more complicated and confusing it can become. We try to rethink, rephrase, rework, but it always seems to be missing something — something more than manmade communication can handle.
But maybe that is just me.
At any rate, writing is a form of therapy for me. I find freedom in putting my thoughts on paper, and so, in all honesty, this blog is mostly for my benefit. I desire to share my joys, sorrows, and dreams with the world, and I appreciate anyone who comes alongside me in that venture.
