We celebrated our sweet girl’s 2nd birthday this weekend with a super fun ice cream sundae party! Keep reading for all of the details.
Invitations
If you’ve been around for a while, you may remember that I usually design my own stationary for events based on Pinterest inspiration. This year, however, I opted to support a small business and purchased this adorable invitation template on Etsy. It was so easy to personalize, download and send to all of our family and friends!
Sundae Bar
Thanks to some Pinterest inspo and internet digging for a Canadian retailer, I discovered an adorable shop for party supplies called A Little Confetti. I ordered their ice cream cone plates, matching sprinkle napkins, pink and lilac coloured cups, and three paper cones to decorate. They threw in a little bag of paper confetti for me, which added the perfect sprinkling of colour to the table!
My sister-in-law also made an adorable banner of treats to add to the front of the table. It was such a sweet addition to the décor! Check out her Instagram page here.
As for the sundae supplies, Madilynn and I took a little trip to the grocery store before the party. Here’s what we grabbed:
- Vanilla and chocolate ice cream from Kawartha Dairy;
- Waffle bowls for serving;
- Chocolate, caramel and strawberry sauces;
- Mini M&Ms;
- Mini Reese’s cups;
- A cookie bits mixture;
- Slivered almonds;
- Whipped cream; and
- Maraschino cherries
Activities
We had a colouring station for the kiddos complete with ice cream printables that I found online, and a collection of crayons and markers. I covered the little picnic table with brown paper, so that they could colour that, too! Plus, take the colouring supplies away, and we had an easy clean space for eating pizza. Win-win!
The big hit, though, was definitely this Ice Cream Cart from LeapFrog. My dad scored this like-new toy on Facebook Marketplace a while back, and we kept it stored away until the party. Madilynn and her little friends had so much fun putting together ice cream orders for real and pretend party guests, and now it’s a bonus birthday present for her.
Cake
My best friend makes the most beautiful cakes for me! When I texted her the inspiration photo, and asked, “Too much? lol”, her immediate response was, “I love it! Not too much at all, especially for your little girl.” This incredible drip cake was a dream come true – layers of delicious chocolate on the inside, decorated with pink + purple icing, girly sprinkles, strawberry macarons, and an upside-down buttercream cone. I added a “2” sparkler for singing “happy birthday” to our girl, and she loved every bit of it!
We are truly blessed to be surrounded by people who love our daughter as much as we do.
Thank you all for helping us to celebrate her 2nd birthday!
