This past week I was blessed with a second job opportunity, and although it may be short-term, it could not have come at a better time. As simple as it sounds, it is a huge boost to have somewhere to go and something to do each day. I am actually accomplishing something, while continuing to teach in the afternoons, and furthering my qualifications with another online course.
Needless to say, I am busy.
But let’s be real for a second. I know that life is only going to get busier. I know that when that teaching job comes around, it’s going to be quite the challenge. And I know that once we start building our family, it’s going to get even crazier!
As I thought about writing this post, I couldn’t help but think about the dedication it takes to be a mom. Seriously, HUGE shout-out to all the moms out there who balance a career and a family.
Last week, I was watching my Facebook newsfeed fill up with pictures of Halloween festivities. A few of my teacher mentors had not only managed to prepare treats for their students, but also assisted with pumpkin carving and cupcake baking for their own kids. ALL IN ONE NIGHT. That’s dedication.
So, how do you survive when you feel like you barely have time to breathe?
As the oh-so-wise Dr. Seuss says, “Step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s A Great Balancing Act.”
It’s tough to keep on top of all the little things. It’s a challenge to decide which task is more deserving of your time. And some days, you just don’t feel like you did anything right.
But there’s one thing I know for sure. My God has told me this…
“Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as if working for the Lord rather than people.” {Colossians 3:23}
I have been called to excel in everything I do. Though this does not mean everything will be perfect, I can rest in the knowledge that if I do my best, God will do the rest. He will provide the strength and the wisdom that I do not have.
There will be days that feel like failures, but then there will be others of great success.
